• The history of Mikrotik

In 1996 John Truly and Arnis Riekstins start Linux and MS DOS system do the development of routing technology combined with Wireless LAN (W-LAN) AERONET which has a speed of 2Mbps in Moldova. Afterwards, they serve five customers in Latvia and the ambition to create a software (Software) Router reliable and distributed throughout dunia.Prinsip base on proxy instead focused on the manufacture of Wireless ISPs, but it makes the program a router that is reliable and can be run throughout wide.Up now, Mikrotik has helped other countries including Sri Lanka and serve 400 clientele.

John Truly and Arnis Riekstins about routing develop jointly and assisted by a staff of 5-15 people R & D (Research and Developmen) using the Linux operating system berkernel 2.2 forming Mikrotik Router OS operating system. Mikrotik now dominate the world routing in developing countries and by Arnis, they also recruit freelancers and third parties with Mikrotik intensively developing both hardware and software.

• Definition of Mikrotik

Mikrotik is a small company headquartered in Latvia, Adjacent to Russia which is engaged in the production of Hardware (Hardware) and Software (Software) associated with the network system komputer.Mikrotik formed by John Trully and Arnis Riekstins. John Trully is an American resident who immigrated to Latvia.Kemudian in Latvia he met with Arnis Riekstins, a graduate of Physics and Mechanics. Mikrotik was founded in 1995 and focus to develop routers and network systems ISP (Internet Service Provider) nirkable.

• Types of Mikrotik

Based on the shape of the hardware used, the proxy can be classified into two types. To make it easier for beginners to understand the router's operating system. Two types of proficiency level is:

1. Mikrotik RouterOS:

     MikroTik version is in the form of software that can be installed on a personal computer (PC) through the CD. Required files can be downloaded in the form of an image file from the official website MikroTik RouterOS MikroTik, www.mikrotik.com. However, this image file is a trial version MikroTik which can only be within 24 hours. To be able to use it full time, must purchase a license key to record a license for only one hard drive.

2. Build in Hardware Mikrotik:

      MikroTik is in the form of hardware that is specifically packaged in board router, or often called RouterBOARD, in which the operating system already installed MikroTik RouterOS. For this version, the license is included in the board MkroTik. On this board Router user can directly use it, without having to do insatalasi operating system. Router Board is packaged in some form or completeness own own. There are functioned as Router Indoor, Outdoor Router and there are equipped with wireless route.

Other codes :

-U : It is equipped with a USB port.

-A : Advanced, usually to level  4 and above.

-H : High performance, has a higher processor clock.

-R : It is equipped with an embedded wireless card.

-G : It is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet ports.

• The function of Mikrotik

      Mikrotik Router can be used on a small scale computer networks or large, it is of course adapted to the resources of the computer itself. If Mikrotik used to organize small network can then use computer software that mediocre, but if the ditnganinya is a large-scale networks such as ISP, the user class computing devices must be really reliable that has a high specification.

System Level License Mikrotik

Mikrotik comes in a variety of levels and each level has different abilities so that when you want to use it fully, then the required license from MikroTikls alias paid. Mikrotik known as Level on the license. Available from Level 0 then 1, 3 to 6.

Here's a description of the level Mikrotik:

• Level 0 (free); do not need a license to use it and use only limited features for 24 hours after installation is done.
• Level 1 (demo); at this level can use most standard routing functions only with one setting and not have the limitation of time to use it.
• Level 3; already includes level 1 plus the ability to memanagemen all hardware-based Mini PCI (Wireless) mode station (client) and Ethernet.
• Level 4; already includes level 1 and 3 plus the ability to manage wireless devices access point mode.
• Level 5; includes level 1, 3 and 4 plus the ability to manage the number of hotspot users are more (usermanager).
• Level 6; includes all levels and do not have any limitations.
